Abstract
The purpose of this study is to clarify the path of influence on the career maturity of out-of-home children and to compare them. For this purpose, 223 children who were cared in out-of-home service-foster care, group home and child care facilities?were surveyed and their care-giver attachment, self-esteem, school life adaptation, and career maturity were analyzed. The results were as follows. First, both the model and the path set by the previous study were meaningful for the whole out?of-home child. Second, in multi-group comparisons, the foster family path was different from the group home and the parenting path. In the case of the foster care, attachment to the care-giver affects career maturity, in turn, through self-esteem and adaptation to school life. On the other hand, in group home and child care facilities, attachment to the care-giver directly affected career maturity and affected career maturity via self-esteem. Third, self-esteem was a crucial path for career maturity in any system. Discussions and implications were made based on these findings.
